Otoplasty and Earlobe Repair
Otoplasty is a procedure designed to alter the appearance of the ears. Some people may notice that their ears are prominent or “stick out”. Others may not like the shape of their ears. With minimal and discreet incisions, sutures or stitching can be used to easily change the shape of or reduce the size of the ears and/or earlobes. This can be performed in a day surgery procedure in an Operating Suite.
Over time, earring holes can elongate, causing an unsightly appearance to the earlobe, or cause earrings not to fit properly. This elongated hole, can be surgically removed and re-closed to provide a more aesthetic appearance to the earlobe. This can be done under local anesthesia in the office with no downtime. Earlobes can be re-pierced 6-8 weeks after the procedure.

Otoplasty New York Patients
This patient inderwent an otoplasty (“ear-pinning") in the office under local anesthesia. His ears were both prominent (“sticking out") as well as flattened (loss of the shape of the folds of the ear). The procedure does not require much downtime and is very well-tolerated. The incisons are placed in the crease of the back of the ear and are not visualized.
